ACLS Online Heartcode

he self-directed HeartCode ACLS eLearning program uses eSimulation technology to allow students participate in realistic patient scenarios, assess patients, and formulate treatment online and at their own pace. As students progress through the course, an evaluation mechanism and intelligent debriefing, provides students with immediate and objective feedback on whether their actions were correct or incorrect, and offer suggestions for improvement.

 

To receive an AHA ACLS Provider course completion card, students must complete three parts which include the following:

  • Part I: The completion of the Heart Code ACLS online. Next, students must print certificate of completion for parts II and III
  • Part II: A hands-on skills practice session with an AHA (NPSC) ACLS Instructor or using a voice assisted manikin (VAM) system
  • Part III: A skills test with an AHA (NPSC ) ACLS Instructor or using a voice assisted manikin (VAM) system

One online access key is required for each student. A certificate of completion is produced upon successful completion of all the training modules associated with this program.

The course covers:

  • Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2015 AHA Guidelines Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of periarrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management and Related pharmacology
  • Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Intended Audience:

The HeartCode ACLS Part I is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative (non-classroom) method for completing an initial or renewal/update ACLS Providers Course. This audience includes nurses, physicians and physician assistants, students in a healthcare program at a university/college, EMS providers (EMT’s and Paramedics), Staff in Intensive Care Units, pharmacists and emergency and critical care departments employees.

Course Length:

Self-paced approximately (10) hours; however, unprepared or inexperienced students may require additional time. Also, the time to complete may be longer if students are using the program at a location where there is a firewall. For Parts II and III approximately 1-2 hours for completion.

Exams:

On-line exam in (Part I) must be passed with score of 84% or better. Skills testing (Part II and III) with a certified AHA (NPSC) Instructor must be completed and graded with a “Passing” score.
