BLS Skills Test 

The Part II and III of the  BLS “Skills Test” is the final phase of the certification process. In Phase I, the student has navigated through a web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology.  Students will be tested as a single-rescuer and as a team member with Basic Life Support for adults, children and infants. Students will also be tested on recognizing life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. They will also be tested on relieving a victim who is choking. This course may be used for initial or renewal BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion. 

To receive an AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers course completion card using this program, students must complete three parts which include the following:

Part I: Completion of the  BLS online portion and printed certificate of completion for parts II and III

  • Part II: A hands-on skills practice session with an AHA (NPSC) BLS Instructor
  • Part III: A skills test with an AHA (NPSC ) BLS Instructor

Intended Audience:

The  BLS Part II and III is for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative (non-classroom) method for completing an initial or renewal/update BLS for Healthcare Providers Course. This audience includes nurses, physicians, EMS professionals, students in a healthcare program at a university/college, allied healthcare professionals (physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, etc.) and others.

1-2 hours for (Parts II and III)

Exams:

Skills testing (Parts II and III) must be completed and graded with a “Passing” score.
