PALS Skills Test
The HeartCode PALS ”Skills Test” Part II and II is the final portion of the program in order to complete the course. The student have completed Part I which is the self directed, interactive, online course for healthcare professionals The program uses eSimulation technology, the program presents 12 realistic, hospital-based, pediatric patient cases that teach healthcare providers to evaluate and manage seriously ill infants and children.
Students interact with the program to assess each patient to formulate a treatment plan based on the PALS algorithm and American Heart Association’s 2015. Treatment is provided in a virtual setting along with realistic patient scenarios. The student is tested in the knowledge of the PALS algorithm, rhythm recognition and pharmacology proprietary.
To receive a PALS Provider course completion card, students must complete three parts which include the following:
- Part I: Successful completion of the online portion. Next print a copy of the certificate of completion and present it the for Parts II and III
- Part II: A hands-on skills practice session with an AHA (NPSC) PALS Instructor
- Part III: A skills test with an AHA (NPSC ) PALS Instructor
Intended Audience:
The HeartCode PALS Part II and III (skills test) is for healthcare professionals who have completed the Part I alternative (non-classroom) method for completing an initial or renewal/update PALS Providers Course. This audience includes: nurses, physicians and physician assistants, students in a healthcare program at a university/college, EMS providers (EMT’s and Paramedics), Staff in intensive Care Units, pharmacists and emergency and critical care departments employees.
Course Length:
Parts II and III will take approximately 1-2 hours for completion.
Exams:
Skill testing (Part II and III) must be completed and graded with a “Passing” score.
