ACLS Provider Course

Course Description:

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider refers to a set of clinical interventions for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest and other life threatening medical emergencies, as well as the knowledge and skills to deploy those interventions. Healthcare providers will enhance their skill in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergency. The American Heart Association’s ACLS course emphasizes the importance of high-quality CPR and the integration of effective CPR with Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support interventions. It also emphasizes effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

The ACLS course is based on simulated clinical scenarios, students are encouraged with active hands-on participation through learning stations. Students will practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as team leader. Realistic simulations reinforce the following key concepts: proficiency in basic life support care; recognizing and initiating early management of peri-arrest conditions; managing cardiac arrest; identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes; recognizing other life-threatening clinical situations (such as stroke) and providing initial care; ACLS algorithms; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

This program is approved by and meets the behavioral objectives of the AHA for ACLS instruction and is based upon the most recent guidelines published by the AHA.

The course covers:

  • Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2015 AHA Guidelines Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Systematic approach
  • Airway management and Related pharmacology
  • Simple VF/VT, complex VF/VT, PEA and Asystole
  • Four types of pre-arrest emergencies (bradycardia, stable tachycardia, unstable tachycardia)
  • Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
  • Team Dynamics – Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Course Objectives:

  • Hi quality BLS, including integrating early AED use
  • Airway management
  • Efficient ECG rhythm recognition
